we're back and we're in the news!

hey folks! sorry it's been so long since we've posted. babies, work, shop, life...it all seemed to get in the way :o)

wanted to point out a couple of openhouse mentions lately. first, a really beautiful blog called sweetlovelyafternoon highlighted our perch! chloe vessel (probly my favorite thing in store right now). she's taking a break for the rest of the summer, but bookmark it and check back in the fall. i think her mission and style is just sweet and lovely.

last, but CERTAINLY not least, we got a great little write up in the design*sponge RVA guide. thanks to locals kelly brown and leslie kingery for the props! we are in good company. and thanks to the internet, folks don't need to come to town to see us, just hop over to the virtual shop and enjoy some SERIOUS summer sales going on.

we've arrived...

we're a week late posting this and there's already a new issue on the stands. blame it on the holidays, but we've just had to much going on lately with the shop, work, school and familial obligations to really be on top of anything ;o) thanks goes out to Katherine Houstoun, a great freelance writer, for her nice little piece on openhouse in this month's homestyle. if you missed it in print, check it out online through the rest of the month.

also, in the spirit of supporting local businesses and local designers, there's a nice article actually on newsstands by Brent Baldwin. it mentions some other nice shops carrying indie designers (sadly missing openhouse) and gives you statistical data as to why buying local is better. enjoy.

belle magazine, style weekly's newest bi-monthly publication, has featured two openhouse designers in their holiday gift guide! if you haven't checked out the mag, run out and grab one. it's everything a richmond girl could need: beauty and fashion updates, local personality highlights, health and fitness, music and books, events, food and entertaining. a one-stop guide to all things Richmond for women. it's smart and sophisticated and we're excited to be a part of it.

our very first ad just showed up on newsstands yesterday! if you're in richmond, stop by any of the bright green boxes around town and pick up the November issue of Skirt! Magazine. it's new to town and filled with great essays, book reviews, music reviews and local profiles. and while you're at it, you can see our ad on page 37 ;o) have a great weekend. we'll be back next week with lots of good stuff. k&m

we did it all of the glory of...

Peter Cetera anyone? we're so excited! but who wouldn't be?! openhouse is featured in the current issue of RHome, a bi-monthly shelter publication from the folks at Richmond Magazine. titled "Independents' Day", the article is wonderfully written and truly expresses the philosophy behind openhouse.

thanks to editor Carrie Neiman Culpepper for "finding" us and Shannon O'Neill for her colorful depiction of the shop. if you're not a subscriber, you can find issues on newsstands in Kroger, Ukrop's, Barnes and Noble, among various other locations. the whole of the issue has a young, fresh feel to it with great finds from a number of cool Richmond spots as well as a peek into the chic home of Ruthe & Ollie (personal fave) owner, Kat Liebschwager.
